Thank you for your interest in Street Bean's apprenticeship program.
Homeless or recently housed young people ages 18-25 work alongside Staff for 4 months to learn hard-skills of a specific job and soft-skills of independence and job-readiness. Apprentices will work roughly 16 hours a week and earn a stipend of up to $180/week.
At Street Bean, our goal is to come alongside and foster an environment of learning, regardless of where you are at in life or what you may already know. Over the course of four months we will be teaching you everything we know about coffee, customer service, cafe culture, and the coffee industry. We are here to support you as you learn and develop barista and retail experience and want to help prepare you for future job placement opportunities and stability in life.
The Street Bean Apprenticeship Program takes place in our U-District Training Lab as well as our café spaces in Belltown and Downtown at 9t h and Stewart. Below is a breakdown of your time at Street Bean:
Learn and become proficient in: customer service, pour over coffee brewing, pulling espresso, steaming milk and latte art, coffee roasting, café culture and history, barista skills. Attend weekly field trips to prominent coffee organizations in Seattle.
Work inside our café spaces alongside baristas to grow your experience as a barista by serving customers and learning the dynamics of café culture and upkeep.
Continue to work in the café spaces alongside baristas. Work with the Programs Manager at Street Bean to apply for jobs, edit or create a resume, and work on interview skills.
