Origin Story
Amigos del Huila is the collective effort of many micro-lot producers in the Huila Department of Colombia. Each farm produces specialty coffee, and many of them have a relationship with our importer. This blend sent for decaffeination is comprised of the odd amounts of their specialty-grade coffees, left over from being packed into 70kg bags for export. Rather than wasting that coffee, they blended their odds-and-ends together to create this blend of all of their lots.
Their decaf blend goes through the process of decaffeination by way of the Ethyl Acetate method, right at home in Colombia. Ethyl Acetate is naturally derived, and is more economical and environmentally friendly than other forms. To learn more about the EA method, please see our blog post.
